Go to the extra mile

30 November 2018

After two years of sole teaching adventure, the first Catholic person I discovered in Umphang District was a woman named Maria. She is married to an undevoted Baptist man. They had three children, one of whom was a student at Umphang Witthayakhom School. This family introduced me to their relatives living in a Karen State village in Myanmar. Since then, I usually do Mass on Sundays.

In order to get to know and follow the family closely, I decided to apply for an English teacher at a nearby school in Tha Po Pu village where two of her children were studying. The school was very pleased to welcome me, and the director suddenly prepared nice accommodations. Now I am involved in raising their children, at least on an intellectual level. It may be a profound effort in missionary outreach.
