On October 20^th, Saint Nicholas Catholic school of Phitsanulok organized a workshop for all the teachers of English Department.  The workshop aimed at strengthen the teamwork and collaborative environment based on Catholic pedagogy. Father Rey, the main speaker of this workshop, talked about ‘Pedagogy of the oppressed’ inspired by the well-known Father Paolo Freire. In many places, including Thailand, we still find schools or academic institution which still prioritize rote learning and conformity over critical thinking. Students are somehow oppressed as they are only asked to repeat and to follow. Exactly in this kind of environment, the educators in the Catholic institutions are called to set the people free to be themselves. We are called to create the generations of leaders not the generations of followers.
